Jean & Clara

Jean is a founder member of WAGS (Women Artists at Green Street). She has been studying local wild flowers since the 1970s and with other members of the WAGS group will be collecting, cataloguing and processing blooms, seeds, roots and leaves into those special essential oils required to blend  Eau de Bordure; a unique essence of the fringeness.

Her love for the plants of her fringeland was shared by  Clara Pye  another local woman whose late nineteenth century drawings were shown to me by Stephen Nye the assistant curator at the Guildhall Museum in Rochester. I wonder what she would have made of the waste we generate and the landfill, fly tipping and litter of 2012.
